What is LMCI?
The Painters and Allied Trades Labor Management Cooperation Initiative (LMCI) is a jointly administered Taft-Hartley fund for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) and contractors signatory to with the IUPAT.
The LMCI fosters and promotes better labor relations between the union and its employers. The LMCI also works to enhance market share for contractors signatory to the IUPAT.
Trustees who administer the fund are equally represented on the LMCI by IUPAT representatives and representatives from the Finishing Contractors Association International (FCA)–an advocacy group for unionized finishing contractors.
As industry advocates, we give our contractors and members a single, unified voice on the issues important to growing a strong unionized industry.
These issues include:
- New markets and new technologies
- Creating national agreements to capture work
- Networking within the industry
- Health and safety issues
- Apprenticeship and journey-worker continuing education and skills building
